Through its commitment to providing credible statistics, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has completed Phase 1 of the Ground Check involving 106.153 BPJS PBI recipients suffering from catastrophic illnesses to ensure the accuracy of national social protection data. The results of this Ground Check were presented by the Chief Statistician of BPS RI, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, together with the Minister of Social Affairs, Saifullah Yusuf, on Wednesday (1/4), at the Ministry of Social Affairs.
“From the results of Phase 1 of the PBI Ground Check, we found that 3.934 individuals had passed away. Additionally, 89.559 PBI recipients were identified and confirmed to indeed be suffering from catastrophic illnesses,” Amalia said. Furthermore, Amalia revealed that BPS has identified 105.129 individuals, but has yet to locate 9,401 others. Saifullah then stated that they would expedite the process of cross-referencing the data with BPJS Kesehatan.
This collaboration not only supports the acceleration of government assistance programs but also strengthens data integrity standards, which serve as the foundation for public policies that are more transparent, accountable, and humane for all people of Indonesia.
