Statistics Indonesia (BPS) attended the 15th Session of the ASEAN Community Statistical System Committee (ACSS15) on November 3–5, 2025, in Melaka, Malaysia. Vice Chief Statistician of Statistics Indonesia (BPS) RI, Sonny Harry Budiutomo Harmadi, also attended the ACSS15 Networking Dinner. On that occasion, Sonny discussed the potential for bilateral cooperation with ASEAN member countries and international organizations and received souvenirs typical of Melaka. Meanwhile, in the ACSS15 plenary session, Indonesia was represented by Windhiarso Ponco Adi Putranto, Director of Price Statistics at BPS RI.

ACSS15 serves as a platform for ASEAN member states, development partners, and stakeholders to strengthen statistical cooperation and collaboration in the region and promote evidence-based policy making.

In this activity, BPS was involved in important decision-making, including the agreement on the ACSS Action Plan 2026–2030, the ASEAN SDG Indicators Progress Report 2025, the Annual Work Plan 2026–2027, the ASEAN-Help-ASEAN Framework, the ASEAN Statistics Virtual Academy, the progress of ACSS Working Groups, and data harmonization among ASEAN member countries. BPS also had the opportunity to share its experiences in increasing public participation and statistical literacy to build trust in statistics.

This meeting also marked the first participation of Timor-Leste, in this case the National Institute of Statistics of Timor-Leste, as an official member of ACSS. In addition to ASEAN member countries, ACSS15 was also attended by dialogue partners and development partners, such as UNESCAP, UN Women, ADB, World Bank, and Statistics Norway.

In his closing speech, the Head of DOSM and Chair of ACSS 2025, Dato' Sri Dr. Mohd Uzir Mahidin, emphasized the importance of ASEAN member countries' commitment to continue producing reliable statistics, encouraging public participation, improving literacy, and developing an open and inclusive data ecosystem.
