Jakarta, 15 November 2025 — During the handover of the SE2026 creative video by the Minister of Creative Economy to the Chief Statistician of Statistics Indonesia (BPS) on 15 November 2025, the Chief Statistician Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti highlighted the significant contribution of the creative economy to employment in Indonesia. “In 2025, the creative economy workforce accounted for 18.70 percent of the national labor force, with a total of 27.40 million workers. This number increased from 2024, when the creative economy employed 26.48 million workers (18.30 percent),” Amalia stated.

At the closing of the BPS 2025 Technical Coordination and Evaluation Meeting in Jakarta (15/11), the Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, formally handed over the SE2026 Public Service Announcement (PSA) materials to the Chief Statistician of BPS, witnessed by the BPS Vice Chief Statistician Sonny Harry Budiutomo Harmadi. This initiative reflects strong collaboration between the government and Indonesia’s creative industry players in supporting the national agenda for the 2026 Economic Census. Amalia also noted that West Java is the province with the largest creative economy workforce. “West Java employs the highest number of creative economy workers, reaching 6.24 million. The top three provinces—West Java, Central Java, and East Java—collectively account for 57.81 percent of Indonesia’s total creative economy workforce,” she explained.

She emphasized that the 2026 Economic Census is a critical opportunity to capture a more detailed portrait of the creative economy sector. Amalia added that SE2026 will provide a comprehensive mapping of creative businesses across subsectors such as culinary, fashion, gaming, music, film, design, and digital content—including their locations and scales of operation. The census results will also form the basis for calculating creative economy GDP and developing a robust business frame for future specialized surveys.

Complete and reliable data are essential for the government and industry to design effective policies. The PSA materials handed over will become official BPS outreach content and will be disseminated through various public communication channels to strengthen community participation in the 2026 Economic Census.

Amalia expressed her appreciation for the support from the Ministry of Creative Economy and the involvement of young animators in producing the 2026 Economic Census PSA. “This PSA is not just a promotional video—it serves as a token of friendship between institutions and a platform for young Indonesian animation talents to showcase their skills. Our collaboration with the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency lays a strong foundation for our commitment to delivering richer, more accurate, and impactful data to support the Minister’s vision for advancing Indonesia’s creative economy,” she said.

The event was also attended by Roy Tok, CEO of RUS Animation Studio, and Yudhi Pramono, SVP of Corporate and Strategic Affairs at Blibli, as strategic partners for the 2026 Economic Census creative video.
