BPS–Ministry of Creative Economy Engage Local Creative Talent for the 2026 Economic Census
November 17, 2025 | Other Activities
Jakarta, 15 November 2025 — The Chief Statistician of Statistics Indonesia (BPS) is strengthening collaboration with the Minister of Creative Economy for the 2026 Economic Census by engaging Indonesian creative industry players through a joint initiative to produce an animated video for the SE2026 public outreach campaign. This effort reflects a concrete partnership between the government and the nation’s creative talents in supporting the national agenda for the 2026 Economic Census.
As part of the closing of the 2025 BPS Technical Coordination and Evaluation Meeting in Jakarta on Saturday (15/11), the Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, officially handed over the SE2026 Public Service Announcement (PSA) materials to the Chief Statistician of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, witnessed by the Vice Chief Statistician of BPS, Sonny Harry Budiutomo Harmadi.
Amalia expressed her appreciation for the Ministry of Creative Economy’s support and the involvement of young animators in producing the SE2026 PSA. “This PSA is not just an outreach video—it serves as a token of friendship between our institutions and a platform for young Indonesian animation talents to showcase their abilities. This collaboration between BPS and the Ministry/Agency for Creative Economy forms a strong foundation for our commitment to delivering richer, more accurate, and impactful data to support the Minister’s vision for strengthening Indonesia’s creative economy,” Amalia stated.
She underlined that the 2026 Economic Census is an important opportunity to more thoroughly capture the creative economy sector. On this occasion, BPS also presented data on the creative economy workforce as of August 2025. “In 2025, creative economy workers accounted for about 18.70 percent of the national labor force, or roughly 27.40 million people. This increased from 2024, when the creative economy employed 26.48 million workers (18.30 percent),” Amalia said.
Amalia further noted, “West Java is the province with the largest creative economy workforce, totaling 6.24 million workers. The top three provinces—West Java, Central Java, and East Java—collectively account for 57.81 percent of Indonesia’s creative economy workforce.”
She added that SE2026 will provide a comprehensive mapping of creative businesses across various subsectors—such as culinary, fashion, gaming, music, film, design, and digital content—including their locations and scales of operation. The census results will also support the calculation of creative economy GDP and serve as the foundation for future specialized surveys targeting creative businesses.
Complete and reliable data are essential for government and industry stakeholders in formulating effective policies. The PSA handed over will be used as official BPS outreach material and disseminated through multiple public communication channels to strengthen public participation in SE2026.
The event was also attended by Roy Tok, CEO of RUS Animation Studio, and Yudhi Pramono, SVP of Corporate and Strategic Affairs at Blibli, as strategic partners for the 2026 Economic Census creative video.
