Deepen Affiliation with ABS, Tap on Footsteps in Canberra

Canberra - Kecuk Suhariyanto, Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), fulfilled the invitation of David W. Kalisch, Australian Chief Statistics Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) to visit the ABS office located in the Australian capital, Canberra. Aside from being a reply to David's visit to Indonesia in 2018, this visit aims to strengthen cooperation between two long-standing statistical institutions.

Not only the spring breeze of the City of Canberra, all invited guests who were present at the opening ceremony also welcomed the arrival of the BPS delegation at ABS House. Invited guests consisting of representatives from the Indonesian Embassy, Australia National University, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), to the Senior Leader from ABS took part in the welcoming ceremony. In fact, the traditional Aboriginal dance offerings accompanied by the Didgeridoo wind instrument succeeded in making Kecuk and David dance together in front of the audience.

Entering the main agenda of the visit, which was conducted from Monday (11/18) to Friday (11/22), BPS delegates were actively involved in special discussion sessions with ABS Senior Leaders. The topic of discussion raised was about Future Economic Statistics, New Data Solution and also about the implementation of the 2020 Population Census in Indonesia. In addition to the discussion through a special discussion session, a one-on-one meeting was held between all BPS delegates and the Deputy Australian Statistics (Echelon-1) or General Manager (Echelon-2) related to the agenda discussed.
