National Candidate Instructor Training Strategic Commodity Estate Survey (Cane Plant)

May 24, 2018 | BPS Activities

The changes that occur in the plantation business are very fast, following the technological developments, seasonal changes, and prices. Based on this, a Strategic Commodity Estate Commodity Survey (Komstrat Kebun) is needed, one of which is sugar cane commodity. Implementation of Surveys Komstrat Kebun sugarcane commodity is an important part of RPJM in plantation sub-sector.

Currently, BPS is reviewing changes in data collection methods from Paper and Pencil Interviewing (PAPI) - data collection using a printed questionnaire-to Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) interviews conducted with the help of tablets. With this method change is expected to increase data quality and cost savings. Previously, data collection experiments with CAPI method have been done in Brebes and Grobogan districts with integrated sampling method for horticulture and plantation sub-sector in 2016.

To gain a common understanding of the concepts, definitions and operating standards of the field enumeration procedures and to be able to transfer the knowledge gained during the training to field officers to be trained, on 23-25 May 2018, BPS through the Directorate of Food Crops Statistics, Holticulture, and Plantation held Training of National Instructor Candidate for Strategic Estate Commodity Survey (VTEBU2018) at Hotel Grand Mercure Jl. H. Benyamin Sueb kav. B-6, Bandar Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

The event was opened by the Director of Horticulture and Plantation Plant Statistics, Hermanto who expects the use of CAPI can run smoothly as desired. "I hope Innas can deliver the material well and correctly, while providing high motivation to the field officers." he said.

The VTEBU2018 will be held on August 1-31 at Ponorogo and Tulungagung districts of East Java with a sample of 180 census blocks and 1800 households. (PR BPS / Carta).
