June 10, 2014 | Other Activities

“We have implemented the 2009 Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (2009 KBLI) in data on industry so far. The Data and Information Center of the Ministry of Industry has also collaborated with BPS in providing large and medium industries data. The encouragement of this 2012 Indonesian Standard Commodity Classification (2012 KBKI) is very important for the data uniformity purpose, so that it enables easier data processing," steted Sylvia Mawardi, The Head of of National Industry Database Subdivision of Ministry of Industry, as a speaker in the event ‘Promotion of the 2012 KBKI for Commodity Classification ".

The event was held on 7 May 2014 in Swisbel Hotel Mangga Besar, Jakarta. It was attended by the Deputy Chief Statistician for Statistical Methodology dan Information Dudy Saefudin Sulaiman, the Head of Public Relation and Legal Affairs Yeane Irmaningrum, and some other BPS echelon II officers, relevant subject matter units, and representatives from various ministries and organization. In his opening speech, Dudy stressed that the standard statistical classification is a key to develop national and international statistics. Therefore, BPS has published some classifications based on international standard.

The 2012 KBKI has been published for two years. Initially, it was published for internal need, particularly in the support for preparation of the Supply and Use Table (SUT) to calculate national accounts statistics. However, due to the limited time in the KBKI preparation and development, it still needs some improvement. Therefore, the stakeholders are required to provide feedbacks and information in order to refine the commodity classification. The KBKI is expected to be integrated and nationally or internationally comparable. Along with Dudy, the Director of Industrial Statistics Emil Azman Sulthani also expected inputs from the stakeholders.
